PowerView
Background
Hunter Douglas is a multinational corporation founded in the year 1919 that specializes in window blinds and coverings.
PowerView® Automation brings shading products into the smart home realm by providing precise and convenient control over window treatments, allowing users to operate them independently or at their leisure. Shades can be operated with a Pebble® Remote, through voice activation using integrated smart devices (Amazon Alexa, Siri®, Google Assistant™, etc.) and through the PowerView® App.
my role
Although I cannot speak to specific details due to an NDA, I will briefly discuss the types of problems I tackled, skills I used, and the impact I made as the UX Specialist in the Motorization department at Hunter Douglas.
Objectives
My objectives were to design new UX experiences for the PowerView® app, including but not limited to: creating a smooth setup process, defining user personas, implement an intuitive and refreshed interface while staying on brand, and continuously improving the overall experience for PowerView® users.

IMPACT
Being on the UX team (which included the UX manager and myself) allowed me to take projects from ideation to high-fidelity designs. Our efforts through user testing, as listed above, allowed for a collaborative nature to be established throughout the Hunter Douglas campus.
The response towards the UX team was continuously positive, with both trivial and larger designs. I had the opportunity to present designs to varying audiences which included developers, engineers, product managers, and stakeholders. Contributions were well-received by all stakeholders, including Executive Management.
